Greening St. Johns:
Here at the Episcopal Church in Jackson Hole we value the unique opportunity we have to connect people with faith while realizing responsibility for the stewardship of creation. Our scenery reminds us daily how magnificent and delicate, our environment is and how we can contribute by taking steps everyday to protect and preserve the precious gift from God.
Some of the actions the Episcopal Church has taken to “go green” include:
- Recycling materials that are accepted at the Recycling Center
- A new retrofit of the St. John’s House Administrative Building to insulate the roof and replace windows with more energy efficient models
- Working on bringing all lighting fixtures to use energy efficient bulbs
- Switched from heating oil to gas
- Use all non-VOC paint products on new projects
- Conducted an energy audit from Lower Valley Energy and implemented the suggestions outlined in the audit
