Volunteer Opportunities

Staff and volunteers come together at St. John's to work towards achieving the mission and vision of the church. We encourage you to contact us to find out more about volunteer opportunities at St. John's and in our greater community.

Administrative Office Volunteers
Office Volunteers will primarily greet visitors, answer telephone calls and answer general questions.
Other activities include assisting staff with projects, such as copying and folding brochures and bulletins, preparing the church for Sunday, helping with special services and events and keeping our records up to date.

Children's Program Volunteers
If you have an interest in children and their spiritual development, you are welcome to join in our programs. Teaching Sunday School, helping with Children's Church or Godly Play are valuable ways to share your gifts with children.

We also have opportunities for the parish to help with special events like our Christmas Pageant, Vacation Bible School, field trips or our Fourth of July Kids Games.

Caring Ministries
We offer a number of opportunities to volunteer to help members of our community who need some extra care.

Caring Cooks
Respond to requests for home-cooked meals to be delivered to parishioners being discharged from hospital or other emergency, on an as needed basis.

Visitors
Call on and/or provide companionship to the elderly or homebound in our parish; schedule could be flexible – once weekly or as available.

Healing Ministry
Train to pray one-on-one with parishioners during communion.

St. John's Shepherds
Sign on to assist an individual or family with orientation to St. John's, answering questions and introducing them to others in the parish.

Transportation
Provide rides to church or doctor for those without a car; has flexibility in scheduling.

Funeral Luncheon
Organize or help with receptions for funerals

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministers are there for his or her care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there is a need. For additional information, please visit the Stephen Ministry page.
