Our Mission:
St. John's Episcopal Church is a community of faith made from God; we worship and serve God, welcome all who seek to know and love Jesus Christ, and share Christ's love by serving others. We warmly invite and welcome new members and visitors to our Church.
In our vision of an ‘Ideal St. John's:"
Customs of the Congregation
We pledged to be examples of these behaviors to the best of our abilities and to lead our church family in fostering a climate that embraces these qualities.
Summary of What We Do:
Our work at St. Johns goes far beyond the walls of the Sanctuary as we open our hearts and hands to the public through a variety of programs, events, and services. The following briefly outlines what St. John's offers to the congregation and community:
Education and Fellowship
Adult Formation - Every Sunday morning at 9:00am, there is an opportunity for education for adults. September through May there are structured programs; during the summer, it is an informal discussion led by Fr. Ken.
Church Dinners - hosted by volunteers the Church Dinner occurs the last Wednesday of every month. The meal provides an opportunity for a casual dinner with each other. We invite those who attend to always bring the children and bring a friend!
Bible Study - Wednesday mornings during the summer months, Fr. Ken leads a book group looking at a new work by one of today's most engaging Biblical scholars. Past groups have read Marcus Borg, John Shelby Spong, John Dominic Crossen and Bishop N.T. Wright. The conversation is always lively and wide-ranging.
Women's Circle - an informal group of women who meet each Wednesday at 7pm. The Circle reads scripture and discusses how it relates to our own lives and spiritual journeys.
Women's Retreat - once a year we offer a Women's Retreat for all women in the parish. The Retreat offers a time of fellowship, worship, and relaxation.
Men's Breakfast - join the men from our parish for coffee, rolls and lively conversation. Held every Thursday morning at 7:30am in Hansen Hall.
Theology on Tap - for the 21-35 age group who would like to have a theological discussion at the pub. Readings begin the conversation along with a toast followed by conversation about a theological theme. This group meets Tuesday nights from 7:30-9pm at the Town Square Tavern.
Ministry and Prayer
Stephen Ministry - our congregations' Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, on-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
Healing Team - every Sunday at the 10am service, a member of the Healing Team is available to pray with you during communion. The group meets the 2nd Sunday of every month for training and check-in.
Daughters of the King - an order of women dedicated to prayer and service. This group meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 6:30pm.

Noonday Prayer - every weekday in the St. John's Chapel a noonday prayer session is offered for all. Evening prayer at 5:00 pm Wednesdays.
Sunday School - Occurs from September- May each year for ages pre-K through Adult.

Weddings- St. John's performs a number of weddings every year. Please refer to the "Weddings" section of this website for more detailed information on how to assist someone in planning their wedding at St. John's.
Funerals - Interment within the church for the cremated remains of loved ones is available in St. John's Columbarium, located in a quiet chapel on the north side of the sanctuary. This sacred space within the confines of our church provides a special place of remembrance. The niches are located behind beautiful fossil rock squares, each concealing four spaces. All questions about Funerals should be directed to Father Ken.
Baptisms - Arrangements for a baptism may be made through the Parish Office. Sufficient time should be given since the Church requires some instruction for parents and godparents prior to baptism.
Choir - Pam Drews Phillips leads our Choir to bring music to our 10am service on Sundays. The Choir rehearses Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30.
